About the Role
The Finishing Shift Leader is responsible for leading and coordinating production personnel during the assigned shift, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of finishing operations. This position supervises machine operations, manages production performance, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and promotes a strong culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
The role requires strong leadership capabilities to achieve production targets while ensuring compliance with Tenaris standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations Management
- Lead and supervise employees during the assigned shift to ensure safe and efficient production operations.
- Monitor and control production processes, ensuring compliance with production schedules, product specifications, customer requirements, and Tenaris quality standards.
- Coordinate workforce deployment and assign responsibilities to maximize productivity and operational efficiency.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including productivity, equipment utilization, interruptions, rejection rates, and operational efficiency.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with inspection plans and support the execution of basic preventive maintenance activities.
Quality & Process Control
- Ensure adherence to established procedures, work instructions, policies, and product specifications.
- Detect, report, and address deviations from procedures and standards.
- Participate in the development, review, and implementation of procedures and work instructions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and reliability.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all HSE policies and procedures.
- Report incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and observations promptly.
- Conduct workplace inspections and participate in incident investigations.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions resulting from audits, inspections, and investigations.
- Maintain updated risk assessments and environmental aspect evaluations within the assigned area.
Resource & Energy Management
- Support the achievement of energy efficiency and resource consumption targets.
- Implement actions aimed at reducing energy usage and optimizing operational resources.
People Leadership
- Coach, motivate, and develop team members to achieve operational and professional growth.
- Foster teamwork, accountability, and effective communication across shifts and departments.
- Conduct people management activities in alignment with Human Resources policies and practices.
- Support performance management, training, and employee development initiatives.
Compliance & Asset Protection
- Ensure compliance with Tenaris policies, management system requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Protect company facilities, equipment, materials, and other assets from damage, theft, or misuse.
- Promote operational discipline and accountability across the team.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing, production, finishing operations, or a related industrial environment.
- Previous experience in a supervisory, team leader, or shift leader role is preferred.
- Strong understanding of production processes, quality systems, and continuous improvement practices.
- Knowledge of HSE standards and safe manufacturing practices.
- Proficiency in production monitoring and operational performance management.
