Job Title: Environment Manager

Location: Bay City, TX

 

Purpose:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Environmental Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing waste and permitting processes onsite, implementing recycling and waste minimization programs, and ensuring compliance with all environmental regulations. This role requires strong networking and interaction with various departments including Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering, as well as maintaining key environmental certifications and permits.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee waste management and permitting processes onsite.
  • Manage waste contracts, validate and process invoices in SAP, ensure payment, and coordinate with vendors and accounts payable.
  • Prepare and manage the waste budget, ensuring alignment with production areas.
  • Develop and implement recycling programs and lead waste minimization efforts, ensuring proper waste segregation.
  • Ensure compliance with all permit requirements, including air, stormwater, and waste permits.
  • Lead amendments or alterations to air permits as needed and develop Permits by Rule (PBRs) while maintaining compliance.
  • Maintain records for air, stormwater, and waste permits.
  • Uphold the site’s ISO 14001 certification and related standards.
  • Handle environmental incident investigations, track leading indicators, and prepare and submit annual reports to Federal and State agencies (Tier II, Annual Waste Summary, P2 Plan and Progress Report, TRI, Greenhouse Gas Emission Report).
  • Respond to TCEQ inspections and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams on environmental support projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in environmental-related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance, including ISO 14001.
  • Experience in waste management, recycling programs, and incident investigation.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
