It Data Center Manager - Bay City, TX  

 

LOCATION: Bay City - Texas  - USA 

DEPARTMENT: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY 

 

Purpose:
Leads and controls the necessary tasks and functions within defined procedures and guidelines to assure an adequate, reliable, and efficient technological base for the development and operation of information and communication systems across Tenaris USA operations. This role is responsible for the operational continuity, maintenance, physical infrastructure, security, and modernization of Data Centers and Server Rooms throughout the United States, including the main Data Centers in Texas and Pennsylvania, as well as all server rooms and IT rooms supporting Tenaris USA mills and operations.


Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead Command Center and Data Center operations, including physical access control, infrastructure monitoring, and server management.
  • Execute and oversee all mechanical and electrical maintenance routines for critical Data Center and Server Room infrastructure.
  • Maintain and monitor UPS systems, ATS equipment, power generators, cooling systems, access control systems, barriers, turnstiles, and related facility infrastructure.
  • Ensure the optimal performance, reliability, organization, and physical security of all Data Center infrastructure across Tenaris USA operations.
  • Continuously monitor Data Center infrastructure and coordinate immediate corrective actions when incidents or failures occur.
  • Guarantee operational continuity of IT and business-critical services hosted within the Data Centers.
  • Cooperate with Security and cross-functional teams in the execution and maintenance of Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP).
  • Solve, measure, and coordinate technological incidents, requests, and changes generated by operations and/or Help Desk activities.
  • Participate in crisis management situations and provide technical leadership during infrastructure outages or emergency events.
  • Define, plan, execute, and report on infrastructure and IT-related projects, including CAPEX initiatives.
  • Manage operational expenditures (OPEX) related to Data Center infrastructure and operations.
  • Ensure achievement of corporate standards during project implementation and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, operational efficiency, innovation, and infrastructure modernization.
  • Update and maintain operational procedures, technical documentation, standards, and operating manuals.
  • Manage contracts, suppliers, service providers, purchase orders, and inventory related to Data Center operations.
  • Protect facilities, equipment, and physical resources from damage, theft, or misuse.
  • Coordinate activities across multiple departments, contractors, and technical teams.
  • Comply with Tenaris policies, procedures and management standards, and ensures adherence with all laws and regulations that apply to the area of responsibility.
  • Proactively motivates, coaches, communicates with and develops his/her staff and manages HR related activities in line with Human Resources norms and procedures. Protects from damage, theft or misuse of the facilities, equipment and other physical resources assigned to his/her area.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience managing mission-critical Data Center environments and infrastructure.
  • Experience within industrial or manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Experience managing vendors, infrastructure projects, operational budgets, and contracts.
  • Availability to travel nationally and support after-hours/on-call operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical systems including UPS, ATS, power generators, PLCs, signals, and RFID technologies.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems including access control barriers, turnstiles, and cooling systems for critical facilities.
  • Basic understanding of networking protocols supporting Data Center and IT operations.
  • Strong project management capability includes planning, execution, tracking, and reporting.
  • Ability to identify and drive process improvement and operational innovation.
  • People management and teamwork skills.
  • Strong time management and negotiation skills.
  • Professional crisis management and decision-making under pressure.
  • Ability to perform self-learning and produce clear technical documentation and knowledge transfer materials.
  • Strong contract management, vendor coordination, and asset control capabilities.
