Laboratory Shift Leader - Bay City, Tx  

 

LOCATION: Bay City - Texas  - USA 

DEPARTMENT: QUALITY 

 

 Purpose:

Serve as a Metrology Shift Leader who will provide metrology, instrumentation and controls knowledge and expertise for the manufacturing facility, laboratory equipment's, and manage production certification throughout Tenaris Bay City Site. The primary duties of this position will center on gauges, instruments and equipment calibration support. This position will require to collaborate with external vendors and providers for calibration and services, and other Tenaris facilities.

The candidate should possess advanced knowledge of calibration, uncertainty calculation, ISO 17025 management system and coordinate with other departments as needed.

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Leads, maintains, and performs basic and advance calibration services for Bay City Gauges, instrumentation, and laboratory testing equipment's. 

  • Drafts and maintains calibration procedures and work instructions for metrology processes.

  • Collaborates with all departments in the continuous improvement efforts within the site improvement programs related to Metrology department.

  • Site Subject Matter Expert to troubleshoot, test, repair and optimize instruments, equipment and control systems for calibrations.

  • Uses measurement reference standards and calibration systems to verify conformance of IMTE (Inspection, Measuring, and Testing Equipment) with associated performance criteria.

  • Researches and provides informed recommendations for metrology related spare parts and calibration.

  • Oversees and assists in the maintenance and review of calibration standards and vendor calibration documentation.

  • Works with contract service providers and support contractor executing calibration, controls and metrology activities.

  • Support IMTE end users and owners regarding IMTE use and measurement best practices.

  • Assists in routing all required documentation and system requests for the submittal of spare parts and services.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate governance (QMS and international standards such as ISO, API, ASTM)                  

  • To comply with HSE procedures, report any incident or observation, perform inspections, and participate in the investigation process. Implement the preventive/corrective actions. Keep updated the risk analysis and the environmental aspect assessment.               

  • Complies with Tenaris policies, procedures, and management standards, and ensures adherence with all laws and regulations that apply to the area of responsibility.                                                                     

  • Protects from damage, theft or misuse the facilities, equipment and other physical resources assigned to his/her area. 

 

Requirements:

  • Be a level 2 certified calibration technician.

  • 5+ years of Applicable Metrology, Instrumentation and Calibration experience.

  • Experience in measurement uncertainty / uncertainty calculation.

  • Experience with ISO 17025 management.

 

Preferences:

  • Associate Degree or higher in Engineering, Life Sciences or another related technical field.

  • 5+ years of Quality System / manufacturing experience.

  • Experience managing external suppliers (from definition of scope of work to final acceptance of the service).

  • Experience managing procurement processes (contracts, PR and PO processes). 

  • Experience with internal and external audits.

  • Will be required to regularly sit/ stand for prolonged periods of time, and occasionally required to pull, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Position might include working holidays, weekends and overtime.
