Laboratory Technician - Bay City, Tx  

 

LOCATION: Bay City - Texas  - USA 

DEPARTMENT: QUALITY 

 

Purpose:

Performs specimen preparation or laboratory tests as applicable.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Performs specimen preparation/laboratory tests according to applicable standards and/or internal documents
  • Conducts metallographic examinations using optical microscopy; experience with SEM/EDS analysis is a plus.
  • Interprets microstructures and correlates them with material properties and processing history.
  • Analyzes and reports specimen/test results, ensuring compliance with specifications, with a focus on steels and their heat treatment.
  • Assists in identifying and resolving technical issues related to testing or specimen quality.
  • Verifies the application and development of safety standards.
  • Complies with Tenaris policies, procedures and management standards, and ensures adherence with all laws and regulations that apply to the area of responsibility.
  • Protects from damage, theft or misuse the facilities, equipment and other physical resources assigned to his/her area.

Preferred Experience:

  • Hands-on experience or academic exposure in metallurgical or materials testing.
  • Familiarity with steel heat treatment processes and structure-property relationships

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a related Engineering field.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong foundation in metallurgy, particularly with steels.
  • Proficient in metallographic sample preparation and optical microscopy.
  • Knowledge of structure-property correlations in steels.
  • Experience with or understanding of heat treatment techniques.
  • SEM/EDS experience
  • Attention to detail and analytical mindset
