Laboratory Technician
LOCATION: Camrose, AB

Role
As a Laboratory Technician, you will conduct lab analyses, uphold quality system requirements, and maintain precise documentation. You will assist production with resolving technical issues, improving processes, and supporting scrap‑reduction and safety initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Perform lab analysis in all stages of manufacturing to ensure proper quality control of raw materials and finished products.
- Ensure all sampling, analytical and monitoring equipment is in good reliable working.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including test results, start‑up records, QA logs, and reports, ensuring proper circulation within the QA program.
- Support production teams to ensure products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system.
- Implement and monitor lab test practices in accordance with CSA and Tenaris internal standards.
- Analyze QA data as needed to define quality performance.
- Support productivity improvement, reducing down time/set-up time, scrap rate and other project work.
- Assist with resolving technical issues in manufacturing and contribute to multi‑project workstreams within production environment.
- Conduct lab and line trials as required to understand causes of problems and potential solutions.
- Support scrap-reduction, cost savings and quality improvement teams, with focus on process and material optimization.
- Support and align with Health and Safety initiatives across the company.
Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary education in Metallurgy, Material Science or Mechanical Engineering would be considered an asset
- Experience working in steel manufacturing, coatings application, and previous lab experience preferred
Ideal Characteristics:
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Fantastic trouble shooting, and problems solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Schedule & Working Conditions:
- This is a full‑time position (40 hours per week), with occasional evening, night, or weekend coverage required based on operational needs.
- Work is performed in an industrial pipe‑coating laboratory environment.
- The role is primarily based in Camrose, AB, with occasional travel or coverage required in Edmonton to support business needs.
