Role

 

The position of Gauge Room Operator performs the operation of controlling, calibrating and following up instruments and gauges, in a safe and efficient manner according to applicable procedures, complying with defined quality standards.  This position supports the quality production within the facility. 

 

Please note: Tenaris requires employees to pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and fit test for this position as it is a safety sensitive position.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures instruments and gauges are in good condition checking their expiration date and correct functioning.
  • Calibrates instruments, verifying their correct functioning and adjusting when required.
  • Follows up instruments history and traceability.
  • Performs calibration reports notifying accuracy results.
  • Repairs instruments when applicable.
  • Carries out new instruments reception and control.
  • Manages Standards.
  • Responsible for training of employees on internal courses related to measurement and gauging activities.
  • Performs instruments and gauges delivery.
  • Responsible for shipment and documentation for gauges internationall
  • Updates information in the tracking systems.
  • Commit with health, safety and environmental policies and notify situations that present potential risk.
  • Ensure product quality complying with defined standards and reporting deviations.
  • Carry out duties in an effective manner meeting productivity and efficiency standards in accordance with minimum costs.
  • Perform activities according to applicable procedures.
  • Complete and update all applicable records ensuring information accuracy.
  • Ensure proper use of the company assets, detecting and reporting malfunctioning.
  • Attend and collaborate in training activities in order to maintain and increase the company knowledge.
  • Proactively suggest improvements and participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Maintain a clean and ordered workplace.
  • Abide by Tenaris discipline norms.
  • Perform activities understanding their consequences on the global process.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in an industrial setting
  • Experience with using a Mic Trac or similar
  • CNC Lathe Experience, an asset
  • Measurement Tools (i.e. Calipers), an asset    

Skills:

  • Knowledge of safe equipment operation and procedures, maintenance and cleaning standards
  • Problem solving, decision making and effective communication skills
  • Time management Skills and the ability to record pickups, daily records and shift scheduling
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software is an asset
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and ensure completion to meet deadlines
  • Strong proven analytical and Organization skills
  • Attention to detail is critical in this role
