Position: Engineering Senior Specialist (multiple positions)
Entity/Department: Tenaris Bay City, Inc.
Location: Koppel, PA (may work from home on a hybrid schedule within Koppel and surrounding areas. Several days a week on-site required)
Main Responsibilities:
- Leads the design efforts for Capex projects, including design of equipment, layouts installations and machinery.
- Manages mechanical design engineering activities necessary to plan, design, construct and start-up capital projects (Capex).
- Manages the engineering process from original concept through final implementation and is responsible for administrative/operational/technical leadership of the project.
- Specifies and participates in the purchasing of equipment/installations.
- Assembles project teams, assigns individual responsibilities, develops project schedules and is responsible for determining and acquiring resources needed.
- Manages contracts and third-party personnel both remote and on site.
- Performs acceptance tests of equipment.
- Ensures adherence to HSE and quality standards.
- Provides technical guidance to other departments.
- Provides technical leadership.
- Recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems.
- Specifies, evaluates and selects manufacturing equipment including process equipment, handling devices, special machinery, utilities and tooling.
- Prepares bid packages and participates in the purchasing process along with the buyers, assesses vendors and coordinates the reception tests of the equipment.
- Approves payments to vendors according to Tenaris authorization manual.
- Checks vendor equipment documents to ensure design accuracy and compliance with specifications.
- Participate in field-testing, equipment commissioning and installation.
- Manages contractors and vendors.
- Interfaces with other Tenaris' engineering offices (Mexico, Brazil, Italy, Argentina, etc.) and with other engineering disciplines (electrical, instrumentation, automation, etc.) to ensure a coordinated design and complete engineering deliverables.
- Interface with project stakeholders.
- Analyzes and troubleshoots mechanical systems and components.
- Monitors and controls project schedule and budget.
- Ensures consistency and integrity of all major equipment in accordance with all codes and specifications.
- Performs HSE inspections, observations and complies HSE.
- Ensures contractors complies with the HSE standards.
- Several days a week on-site required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or closely related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in a related occupation in mechanical design in steel manufacturing or other heavy industries performing each of the following: managing engineering contractors in local and international engineering and investment projects; preparing technical specifications and bidding packages using AutoCAD and SolidWorks; engineering studies involving pneumatic and hydraulic equipment; and risk analysis methodology.
Special Requirement: Requires up to 10% domestic and up to 10% international travel to other Tenaris sites.
