Position:  Project Engineer (multiple positions)

Entity/Department: Tenaris Bay City, Inc.

Location: Koppel, PA

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Manage mechanical design engineering activities necessary to plan, design, construct, and start-up capital projects.
  • Manage the engineering process from original concept through final implementation and is responsible for administrative/operational/technical leadership of the project.
  • Participate in the purchasing of equipment/installations.
  • Assemble project teams, assign individual responsibilities, develop project schedules and is responsible for determining and acquiring resources needed.
  • Manage contracts and third-party personnel both remote and on site.
  • Perform acceptance tests of equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to HSE and quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and technical leadership to other departments.
  • Recommend and take action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems.
  • Lead the design efforts for Capex projects, including design of equipment, layouts installations and machinery.
  • Specify, evaluate, and select manufacturing equipment including process equipment, handling devices, special machinery, utilities and tooling.
  • Prepare bid packages and participate in the purchasing process along with the buyers, assess vendors, and coordinate the reception tests of the equipment.
  • Approve payments to vendors according to Tenaris authorization manual.
  • Check vendor equipment documents to ensure design accuracy and compliance with specifications.
  • Participate in field-testing, equipment commissioning and installation.
  • Manage contractors and vendors.
  • Interfaces with other Tenaris’ engineering offices and with other engineering disciplines to ensure a coordinated design and complete engineering deliverables.
  • Interface with project stakeholders.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot mechanical systems and components.
  • Monitor and control project schedule and budget.
  • Ensure consistency and integrity of all major equipment in accordance with all codes and specifications.
  • Perform HSE inspections and observations.
  • Ensures contractors comply with the HSE standards.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or foreign equivalent in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a Project Engineer-related occupation in the steel or other heavy industries performing each of the following: managing engineering contractors in engineering and investment projects; preparing technical specifications and bidding packages; reviewing technical drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks; leading engineering studies involving pneumatic and hydraulic equipment; performing risk assessments and applying risk analysis methodology; monitoring and controlling project schedules using MS Project and SAP ERP software, project management software (e.g. Ms Project), and Company ERP (e.g. SAP).

 

Special Requirements:   10% domestic and international travel is required.
