Verification & Control Inspector I (Salaried) - Koppel, PA  

 

LOCATION: Koppel - Pennsylvania  - USA 

DEPARTMENT: QUALITY 

 

Purpose:

Perform process audits/Quality verifications to prevent and eliminate non-conforming product shipments. Proactively design Quality controls with a focus on NDT processes and continuous improvement.

 

Main Responsibilities (purpose and critical job duties):

  • Perform QMS Compliance & Auditing: Conduct production process, product and record verifications, final inspections, and quality audits to ensure alignment with QMS and product (API) standards.
  • Support Quality Event & Material Control: Identify process and product findings, assist in the execution of material holds/releases, and provide technical support to manufacturing areas.
  • Assist in Corrective/Preventive actions & Root Cause Analysis: Support the investigation of quality deviations, propose risk-mitigation solutions, and track the completion and effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Monitor Quality KPIs: Track and analyze quality performance metrics to help identify the root causes of process deviations.
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement: Participate in initiatives to optimize quality-related processes and minimize operational risks across the facility.
  • Verify NDT Compliance & Procedures: Perform regular verifications on Non-Destructive Testing processes to ensure equipment, personnel qualifications, and procedures comply with standards.
  • Support NDT Operations & Qualifications: Assist with NDT equipment qualifications and provide specialized technical support to improve NDT process efficiency.
  • Compliance with Tenaris policies, procedures and management standards, and ensures adherence with all laws and regulations that apply to the area of responsibility.

 

 Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Quality Knowledge: Basic to intermediate understanding of Quality system requirements. Preferred knowledge of specific Quality system aspects such as API/ISO standards, verification and auditing processes, non-conformity reporting, root cause analysis, risk assessments, and effectiveness evaluations.
  • NDT knowledge (highly preferred): Certified NDT Level II in at least one of the two following methods: MFL or UT. Willing to be trained and get involved in NDT processes and roles.
  • Metals manufacturing: Practical knowledge of metal forming and processing (e.g., rolling, heat treatment, finishing). Preferred steelmaking or forming process knowledge.
  • Technical Software Proficiency: Intermediate to advance proven knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including making charts, dashboards and reporting tables) and standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, power point). Preferred knowledge of Pivot tables in Excel and Power BI.
  • Basic statistical tools. Proven understanding of basic statistical tools such as histograms, control charts, statistical process control.
  • Analytical Thinking, data analysis capable and technical literacy: Detail-oriented with proficient analytical skills to solve problems proactively and make data-driven decisions under pressure. Great attitude and constant availability to undergo training related to Quality and manufacturing technical matters.
  • Leadership and inclusion: Highly self-motivated and proactive attitude to identify areas of improvement. Multicultural people management, diversity management.
  • Adaptability, resilience and prioritization: High adaptability under pressure, frustration management needed for switching priorities in a fast-paced mill environment. Dynamic prioritization of objectives based on urgencies.
  • Communication skills. Daily shop floor communication skills, cross level and professional reporting: ability to clearly give instructions and interact daily with shop floor mill operators. Good capacity to prepare and explain technical reports of verifications, audits and events analysis performed.
  • Small team supervision (skill preferred): ability to direct and supervise a small crew of shop floor quality verification crew, communicate clear task assignments and review their performance.

 

Shifts/ Travel requirements:

  • Primarily available for day-shift operations (morning or afternoon shifts), with flexibility to occasionally support night-shift activities as business needs require. Occasional domestic travel within the United States may be required.
