Verification & Control Inspector I - Houston, Tx  

 

LOCATION: Mesa - Texas  - USA 

DEPARTMENT: QUALITY 

 

Purpose:

To oversee and support quality operations during assigned shifts, ensuring compliance with internal standards, customer specifications, and applicable industry regulations. The role combines hands-on quality oversight with analytical review, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration to drive continuous improvement in OCTG production processes.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and enforce adherence to quality standards throughout the production shift, conducting in-process and final inspections for OCTG processes including Heat Treatment, Hydrotesting, and Non-Destructive Examinations (UT, MPI, EMI).
  • Collect, analyze, and report quality performance data to identify trends, deviations, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare timely and accurate documentation to ensure compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable API/ISO regulations.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to resolve quality issues and support corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Participate in audits, risk assessments, and root cause investigations to strengthen quality assurance practices.
  • Provide training to team members on quality standards, inspection techniques, and documentation practices.
  • Identify and propose process improvements to enhance production quality, reduce rejections, and improve overall performance.
  • To comply with HSE procedures, report any incident or observation, perform inspections and participate in the investigation process. Implement the preventive/corrective actions. Keep updated the risk analysis and the environmental aspect assessment.
  • Complies with supplies consumption target/goals, carrying out the required actions that aim to maintain the process running without any interruptions, with the goal of improving and aim to reduce the use of them
  • Complies with Tenaris policies, procedures and management standards, and ensures adherence with all laws and regulations that apply to the area of responsibility.
  • Proactively motivates, coaches, communicates with and develops his/her staff and manages HR related activities in line with Human Resources norms and procedures. Protects from damage, theft or misuse the facilities, equipment and other physical resources assigned to his/her area.

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Solid understanding of OCTG manufacturing processes, particularly:
    • Heat Treatment (Normalizing, Quenching & Tempering)
    • Hydrotesting operations & pressure integrity criteria
    • Non-Destructive Examination (UT, MPI, EMI)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, data visualization).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word (technical writing) and PowerPoint (professional presentations).
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities.
  • Effective communication and report-writing skills.
  • Leadership and team coordination abilities.
  • Professional attitude with decision-making ability under pressure.
  • Familiarity with API 5CT, API Q1, API 5B standards.
  • Auditing processes, writing detailed non-conformities, and conducting Root Cause Analysis
  • Risk Assessments and Effectiveness Evaluations.
