Labour Relations Analyst / Sr. Analyst
LOCATION: Sault Ste. Marie, ON
DEPARTMENT: Human Resources
Role
We are currently seeking an Labour Relations Analyst to join our Human Resources team. In this role, you will provide dedicated HR support to our industrial operations in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. As a key member of the Human Resources department, you will play a vital role in fostering a positive work environment by managing employee relations matters, supporting policy implementation, and ensuring compliance with employment standards and company values.
Responsibilities:
- Provide coaching and guidance to management and employees on Tenaris policies, leadership, compensation, headcount tracking, and employee relations matters including investigations, discipline, grievances, and conflict resolution.
- Respond to inquiries and provide support on HR-related topics across the organization.
- Manage full-cycle recruitment, including interviews, employment testing, offers, and onboarding.
- Liaise with the union on employee related matters
- Support payroll and benefits administration for hourly employees.
- Manage employee attendance and other disciplinary matters in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Ensure completion of required training and support on-the-job learning initiatives.
- Conduct investigations into employee complaints or misconduct, assist with complex cases such as dismissals and grievances, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Prepare and maintain reports on attendance, training, and other HR activities as needed.
- Operate effectively in both unionized and non-unionized settings, ensuring compliance with relevant labor regulations.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Human Resources or Industrial Relations major is preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role is required
- Experience in recruitment, employee relations, labor relations, and conflict management is an asset
- Experience in industries such as oil & gas, manufacturing, or unionized environments is considered an asset
- Experience in other HR functions, including benefits administration, is preferred.
Skills:
- Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong ability to build positive relationships and provide exceptional support to internal stakeholders
- Proven track record of managing sensitive information and confidential tasks with discretion, professionalism, and ethical responsibility
- Works effectively within diverse teams, contributing to shared goals and fostering a supportive work environment.
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently
- A self-starter with a proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication
Schedule & Working Conditions:
- Monday to Friday, 8 hour days, with flexibility based on business needs.
- Work is performed in a steel manufacturing mill office
