Planning & Steel Sourcing Senior Analyst  

 

LOCATION: Sault Ste. Marie, ON

DEPARTMENT: Planning

 

Role

Leads the integrated Planning and Steel Sourcing function for Tenaris Sault Ste. Marie. Is responsible for steel procurement, economic and financial planning, and Supply Chain performance optimization. Ensures alignment between steel purchasing, production requirements, and business objectives through data-driven decision-making and cross-functional coordination.

 

Responsibilities:

STEEL SOURCING

  • Plant Load, ERW Mass Balance and Forecasting: Systematically tracks demand changes, increases the frequency of forecast analysis, and enhances the frequency and accessibility of ERW mass balance analysis to support timely, data-driven decision-making.
  • Submits purchase orders to steel vendors in conformance with requirements for all Tenaris locations under his/her responsibility based on allocation decisions made by the responsible Steel Sourcing Manager.
  • Maintains an active status of purchase orders until completion. Also maintains and reports status of each trial order in process through communication with Quality Assurance..
  • Communicates adjustments of required delivery dates and/or order volume to the appropriate steel vendor based on information from the relevant Tenaris Production Planning team and sales forecast.
  • Manages steel claims database for assigned Tenaris mills and works with relevant areas in the resolution of steel claims.

SUPPLY CHAIN PLANNING

  • Contributes in projects for performance and process improvement, analyzing detected investment opportunities and needs, solving procedure gaps, designing and developing tools for execution, and leading any necessary analysis.
  • Provides Tenaris and Supply Chain performance optimization by collecting information from control areas of different regions, analyzing and creating improvement proposals, monitoring execution milestones, and identifying key issues.
  • Ensures a Management Control scheme of Supply Chain by identifying variables, interfaces, control points, standards definitions, and available information. Follows up on budget indicating deviations and controlling budget processes.
  • Collaborates generating standards for the Supply Chain processes and procedures, analyzing processes, procedures, and SC standards, and assisting in the improvement of existing ones.
  • Facilitates knowledge exchange, designing and developing flexible support tools.

ECONOMIC & FINANCIAL PLANNING

  • Supervises and provides support in the preparation of Tenaris annual global budget.
  • Supervises and analyzes the economic and operative performances, ensuring the elaboration of the economical financial plan.
  • Supports top management for decision making, analyzing the investment projects and new business profitability.
  • Ensures fulfilment of required production orders according to established timeframe, defining productive capacity of the plant and interchanging information with programming areas of the other plants. Coordinates orders distribution.
  • Elaborates production monthly plan analyzing market needs, providers capacity, and inventory levels.

GENERAL

  • Initiates and executes special projects for the area, including projects with suppliers and other Tenaris departments.
  • Complies with Tenaris policies, procedures and management standards, and ensures adherence with all laws and regulations that apply to the area of responsibility.
  • Proactively motivates, coaches, communicates with and develops his/her staff and manages HR related activities in line with Human Resources norms and procedures. Protects from damage, theft or misuse the facilities, equipment and other physical resources assigned to his/her area.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or a related field.
  • 1 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in SAP and other supply chain management software.
  • Excellent MS Excel skills and Exposure to Power BI and SQL.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

 

Schedule & Working Conditions:

  • Standard 8-hour workday, 40-hour week (Monday–Friday) with flexibility based on business needs.
  • Work performed in an office located within a manufacturing mill.. 

 

Compensation (**Salaried) 

The salary range for this role is $ $69,000-$114,000 CAD annually.

Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s experience, education, skills, and qualifications, as well as internal equity and market considerations.
