Base Maintenance Group Supervisor I - Baytown, TX

DEPARTMENT: INDUSTRIAL OPERATIONS
Purpose
Oversees and executes the Preventive Maintenance (PM) plan for production equipment and mechanical systems, ensuring equipment reliability, mechanical integrity, safety, and optimal performance. Leads mechanical failure analysis, implements corrective actions, and supports Engineering in equipment upgrades, installations, and commissioning.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and execute PM activities for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and rotating equipment.
- Define maintenance strategies that ensure equipment reliability, availability, and mechanical performance.
- Conduct mechanical inspections, condition‑monitoring checks, and failure analysis on motors, gearboxes, pumps, cylinders, valves, and power‑transmission assemblies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve unplanned mechanical equipment issues, supporting emergency repairs and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Identify improvement opportunities based on equipment performance trends and mechanical asset health.
- Support Engineering with equipment evaluations, upgrades, installations, and mechanical specifications.
- Manage mechanical spare parts, including bearings, seals, lubricants, hydraulic components, and critical mechanical inventory.
- Supervise mechanical technicians/millwrights and contractors to ensure safe, efficient mechanical repair execution.
- Manage maintenance budgets related to mechanical repairs, spare parts, and service activities.
- Ensure full compliance with HSE, LOTO, machine‑guarding, and mechanical safety standards.
- Participate in incident investigations, implementing mechanical corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain mechanical risk assessments and equipment documentation within SAP PM.
- Analyze mechanical KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, downtime, asset health) to drive reliability improvements.
- Support energy‑efficiency initiatives for motors, pumps, hydraulic units, and mechanical systems.
- Coach and develop the mechanical maintenance team to strengthen troubleshooting and repair capabilities.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong hands‑on mechanical experience, including motor‑gearbox alignment, gearbox rebuilds, pneumatic and hydraulic cylinder repair, and maintenance of high‑pressure and large‑capacity hydraulic systems with proportional/servo valves.
- Skilled in mechanical failure analysis (RCA/RCFA) and diagnosing issues in rotating equipment, drive systems, and hydraulic/pneumatic components.
- Knowledge of maintenance KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, uptime, cost analysis) and mechanical asset‑performance metrics.
- Experience using SAP PM for mechanical work orders, PM routines, equipment history, and BOM accuracy.
- Proficient in Excel for mechanical maintenance reporting, trends, pivot tables, and KPI dashboards preferred.
- Demonstrates mechanical troubleshooting ability, persistence, proactiveness, accountability, and results‑driven execution.
- Strong leadership and team‑development skills within an industrial environment.
